In the autumn of 1976, on the brink of
major success and shortly after her
highly
acclaimed exhibition
of Eva
portraits
at Lo Scorpione Galleria
D'Arte
Moderna
in Milan, the late-
Italian
expressionist artist and
mystic Bruna X disappeared. Sacrificing everything for her religious calling, she astounded many people by withdrawing, together with a small group of followers, from the contemporary world and refusing, for the remainder of her life, to either exhibit or sell any further pieces from her vast collection.
Shortly before her death in March 2007, the artist gave her foundation exclusive rights to over two-thousand paintings, drawings and sculptures.
They represent a career spanning more than forty years from the late 1950’s to 2001. It is our aim to re-introduce and promote this unique talent and to establish her reputation as a leading figure in modern Italian expressionism.
In doing so, we invite the uninitiated to enter the wonderful, strange and compelling world of Bruna X.
